YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED!

The prospects for evangelism in Bangladesh have never been brighter! There are more trained workers within the country than ever before and more workers being trained.. More American churches than ever before are involved. New works are underway in Dhaka, Khulna, and across the country. The Lord is opening doors!

Still more is need from us! These new Christians struggle to have places to meet, to provide benevolent ministries within their villages and to preach the Gospel of salvation to their lost neighbors. To accomplish all these tasks, funding is desperately needed. Bangladesh is a third world country and and these new Christians are extremely poor. They need our help!

With the planting of new churches comes the need for additional trained preachers and leaders. Churches and individuals can help supply a trained preacher by supporting a student at KBC. Monthly support of a student helps to train a future preacher or church leader within his own environment.

This direct cost for one student at KBC is approximately $100 per month. This includes food, personal and travel expense, and all school supplies. The Lord's work is growing in Bangladesh! You can be a part of this work. Please pray about any involvement you or your congregation can share. If you desire to help, please call or write:

First Bangladeshi Youth Conference

The first nationwide youth conference among Bangladeshi Churches of Christ was held at Khulna Bible College September 13-17, 2006. Joining the students and staff of KBC were 103 young people and 12 adult sponsors, coming from throughout the country, making a total audience of almost 150 people.

The theme for this conference was "Fix Your Eyes Upon Jesus", taken from Hebrews 12:1-2. Grant Azbell III, youth minister for the Senatobia, Mississippi Church of Christ, was the keynote speaker. Other speakers were chosen from the 2005 graduating class of KBC. These included Luther Shah, James Tapon Sarkar, Bikash Sarkar, Nahum Ujjal Halder, and Phillips Halder. Each of these Bangla speakers is currently working full times as an evangelist or with KBC. Curren plans call for making this an annual event, with the second conference already scheduled for September, 2007. Interest in this year's conference was extremely high and those students who attended were excited and spiritually uplifted. Prospects are excellent for tremendous growth in participation and overall benefits in future years.

Notes From the Field

Timothy Ingram from Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ in Florence, AL conducted a preachers' seminar on I,II Thessalonians August 21-26, 2006 at KBC in Bangladesh. About 40 current preachers and evangelists from Churches of Christ attended, plus 11 former denominational preachers who have been recently converted. These seminars are held regularly (one or two per year) to provide continuous educational opportunities for church leaders.

KBC welcomed 12 new first year students for the fall, 2006 semester, comprising the class of 2009. This brings our student body to a total of 16.

Our new Annex building, which was purchased along with almost 1 acre of land last year, is now renovated and in use. It was inaugurated in August with the preacher's seminar, then used again in the Youth Conference in September. This is a remendous addition to our campus and to the facilities available to Churches of Christ in Bangladesh. Thanks to all those who contributed towards the purchase and development of this property.

Nepal

Two Productive Campaigns to Nepal were conducted by Mike Brooks in July and October, 2006. These were primarily spent in visits to a variety of cities, towns and villages from extreme southeastern Terrai, to the Chitwan "jungle", various areas of the Kathmandu Valley, and the Himalayas of Rasua District. Highlights included 3 to 4 day leadership seminars in Birtamode, Narayanghad, Kathmandu and Shyafru Bensi. Forty to fifty church leaders attended each of these seminars in which lessons were given on congregrational organization, Christian spiritual growth, and a variety of doctrinal issues and Biblical texts. More than thirty-five congregations were represented in these seminars. In addition Mike visited and taugh brief one day lessons in several other congregations.
