KHULNA BIBLE COLLEGE
The purpose of Khulna Bible College is to train and equip leaders of Churches of Christ in Asia. KBC seeks to instill accurate knowledge of the Bible, the inspired Word of God, and to equip with such skills and knowledge as to enable her students to evangelize and to minister.
The campus of KBC is located in Tilak village, Rupsha police station, Khulna, Bangladesh. The school occupies 2 acres of land with five main buildings, the first of which began construction in 1993. KBC opened in 1996 on a part time basis, offering courses for two weeks duration, taught by visiting teachers from the U.S., up to four times per year. In May, 2002 seven men graduated from this program having taken more than 40 courses. In the fall of 2002 KBC began conducting a full time program with a class of 17 men, all of whom graduated in May, 2005. Since fall, 2005 a new class has been recruited each year. Twelve students are enrolled for the 2010-11 school year.
KBC is supported by contributions from congregations and individual Christians in the U.S. It is overseen by the Elders of the Highland Park Church of Christ (Muscle Shoals, AL). Michael E. Brooks serves as the Director. Ibon P. Halder, a Bangladeshi national who is a graduate of Heritage Christian University, is the Assistant Director. There are three full-time Bangla teachers (including Ibon Halder). In addition to these, Mike Brooks teaches a half load each semester.
As of January, 2011 there has been a total of 5 graduating classes with 32 total graduates. Almost all of these men are now serving the churches as evangelists in Bangladesh. KBC offers a three year program of approximately 126 credit hours. Graduates have completed a curriculum which is the equivilent of a BA Degree with a major in Bible. This curriculum includes a textual study of every book of the Bible plus courses on doctrine, history and related subjects.
In order to be admitted to KBC a prospect must be a member of the Church of Christ, holding a Secondary School Certificate, with recommendations from his preacher and home congregation. He must agree to abide by all rules and policies of Khulna Bible College, which include to be a sincere and faithful Christian and to be committed to living according to the doctrinal and moral teachings of the New Testament. Due to limitations of staff and facilities, only male students are accepted at the present time.
